STATE OF THE CITY PRESENTATION
STATE OF THE CITY
BUDGET ADDRESS

On Thursday, January 30th, Mayor Owen Quinn presented a State of the City Budget Address to city boards and agencies, department heads and the general public.

The presentation included an overview of the current fiscal condition, the impacts of potential cuts in State funding, and what the City is doing to prepare for such cuts.  "It has not caught us unaware or unprepared, but these are very serious, very difficult times, and some hard choices are going to have to be made," Quinn said.

Among the solutions proposed by the Mayor are: shared services between the City and Board of Education, streamling City Hall, seeking grant funds, increasing economic development efforts, hiring a Finance Director, appointing a Blue Ribbon task force to seek innovative business solutions such as the Kaizen concept, and continuing with a municipal development plan for downtown.
